About the role

The Assistant Housing Officer is responsible for providing effective and efficient support in the delivery of tenancy and property management services.  In this highly rewarding role you will provide administrative assistance and support to the Housing Officer to deliver exceptional customer service to all our tenants. Your days will be varied, however, your key duties will include:

  • Supporting the Housing Officer with interviewing clients and assessing eligibility;
  • Assisting with client enquiries and providing information on housing and homelessness services;
  • Preparing documents in relation to tenancy management, including but not limited to issuing notices and processing rent reviews;
  • Undertaking property inspections and identifying maintenance issues;
  • Processing required documents to establish tenancies.

This position is rostered for 14 hours per week, with days and shift times negotiable. This could be suited to those seeking flexible shifts/ to work within school hours.

You are proud of your ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, prioritising your workload, and managing your time effectively in order to successfully meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills are part of your expansive repertoire, and you effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders. With a naturally empathetic disposition you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • Certificate IV in social housing and/or Certificate in Administration or Business or an equivalent level of expertise and experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of tenancy legislation;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the social housing sector;
  • Solid experience in a housing or community services role.
