Fostering Team Leader

Highlighting the importance of this role for our team: 

We are looking for an experienced and confident leader to join our Foster and Kinship team and continue to help shape the bright future of our service. This role plays an important role in ensuring high quality service delivery to our carers and achieving good outcomes for our children and young people. 

Everyday will look a little different but you will always have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our Foster and Kinship Carers and the children and young people they care for. 

The role will be based in Mount Isa and work full-time from our Mount Isa office. However, will supervise a team of Case Workers and Support Workers who provide direct support to Foster and Kinship carers in various towns of North West QLD including Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Dajarra, Boulia, Richmond, Normanton, Burketown, Doomadgee, and Mornington Island 

You will have  a supportive induction and ongoing mentoring from your line manager and the CYF Senior Leadership team. There will be ongoing opportunities for training and professional development. For more position roles and responsibilities please refer to the Position Description attached. This role will require On Call duties for 7-days on a rotating 12-week roster. 

No two days will be the same in this diverse role, however, your day-to-day responsibilities will include: 

  • Monitor the quality of care being provided to children and young people living in family-based placements. 
  • Managing the provision of support to foster and kinship carers; 
  • Oversee the initial and ongoing assessment, planning, delivery and review of strategies that address children and young people’s care and developmental needs across all the life domains.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work or similar discipline. 
  • Demonstrated relevant experience including in a leadership position. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to work sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection legislation. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong time management skills. 

 Competitive applicants will also possess the following  

  • Local knowledge and established professional network in the North West QLD region. 
  • Demonstrated experience navigating service systems in regional areas. 
  • May identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.  
  • Post-graduate qualifications.  
  • Experience and certifications in trauma-informed practice and/or positive parenting programs. 
  • Demonstrated practice framework that emphasises a strengths-based, empowering, and relational approach. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing risk within the child protection field of practice
