About the role

Reporting to the Support Coordinator, the Housing Support Worker is primarily responsible for case management of participants in our Crisis Accommodation properties and in Intensive Housing Response for Families program. They will have experience working in the social services sector, providing case-management.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Empowering participants to obtain and sustain long-term housing outcomes.
  • Utilising motivational interviewing techniques and trauma informed practices to inform approach to all aspects of the work.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

This role contributes as an integral member of the Housing Services team and supports all activities aligned with the strategic direction and consistent with the mission and values of Churches of Christ.

The position entails home visits and providing mobile support to families in crisis accommodation across Brisbane and in Logan and Ipswich regions from an office base of Kenmore.

This position calls for an individual who is highly organised, flexible and person-centred. You will understand trauma informed care and be comfortable conversing and collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will have team work skills and have a keen eye for detail, and the capacity to deliver results and meet objectives are essential.

Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • Degree qualification in Social Science or relevant field, or equivalent experience;
  • A patient approach to resolving difficulties that may be experienced by our tenants, resolving complaints, sustaining tenancies and supporting our operational staff;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff in contributing to the development of work goals openly and honestly;
  • Ability to work autonomously to deliver team outcomes and objectives;
  • Experience working with people from diverse, social and economic disadvantaged backgrounds;
  • Current National Police and Working with Children (Blue Card) check or the ability to acquire.
