Are you searching for a rewarding position that has a direct and positive impact on the lives of children and young people in our community?

About the role

You will be working with vulnerable young people whose lives have been impacted by trauma. Working with young people in the residential care environment can, at times, be challenging and there will be tough moments but you know the difference you can make in the long term. Helping to make a positive difference in the life of a young person is a significantly rewarding outcome of this important work.

On a daily basis, you will assist the young people residing in our care, with their physical and emotional well being, this can include everything from helping them with the preparation of meals, to just being there for them when times are tough. There will also be paperwork and administration tasks for you to attend to, as you administer program records and maintain strict documentation ( that meets legal requirements).

You will be supervised by a Team Leader and Case Manager in a supportive team environment, attend Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, and have the opportunity to participate in ongoing learning and skill development opportunities.

Successful Youth Workers will be placed in one of our services in the following areas: North Brisbane (Aspley); Moreton Bay (Caboolture; Kallangur); Sunshine Coast (Caloundra); Northern Gold Coast (Eagleby); Gold Coast (Southport). Employees may work across more than one service.

About you

You are passionate about the welfare of children and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them.

You are often praised for your compassionate nature and approachability and should ideally have some experience with adolescents with significant emotional and psychological support needs. You are a caring and positive role model with the following experience:

  • A Certificate IV in Youth Work, Disability Services, Community Services or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working in residential care; and/or working with young people in a child protection or community service context, ideally over a minimum period of one year;
  • A current open drivers license.
  • Completion of the Hope & Healing Framework modules would be advantageous

Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: unconditional love; wise stewardship; mutual trust and continual innovation.
