  • Based at our Kenmore Head Office
  • 12 month fixed-term contract

Our team is expanding to support a major uplift in our data platforms, architecture, and analytics capabilities. We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data & Development team and deliver high‑quality, scalable data solutions that underpin critical business operations, insights, and reporting.

This is a key project‑based role where you will design, build, and optimise complex data pipelines, support cloud‑based data engineering initiatives, and play a central part in our modern data transformation.

About you:

You will develop and maintain robust, high‑performance data infrastructure across Azure and Databricks environments. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you will enable reliable data flows, enhanced data quality, and improved analytics capability across our organisation.

You will support project delivery from design through to implementation, ensuring our data platforms are scalable, well‑governed, and built for long‑term success.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and integration across multiple systems.
  • Develop and support ETL/ELT workflows using Databricks and Azure Data Services.
  • Optimise data storage, compute performance, and cost‑efficiency across cloud environments.
  • Contribute to data modelling for analytics, operational reporting, and machine‑learning use cases.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver fit‑for‑purpose data solutions.
  • Integrate data from clinical, financial, and care platforms to support organisational insights.
  • Monitor, test, and troubleshoot data processes to ensure reliability and integrity of critical datasets.
  • Maintain compliance with privacy, security, and governance standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data engineering practices, documentation, and methodologies.

What You Will Bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in data engineering, including distributed systems and cloud data architecture.
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL, and modern cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated capability developing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, metadata management, governance, and data‑quality practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across project delivery.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with the ability to work across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check, Blue Card, and LCS screening.

Desirable Experience:

  • Exposure to aged care, healthcare, or not‑for‑profit environments (ideal but not essential).
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate).
  • Databricks certification or big‑data technology experience.
  • Experience integrating data from operational, clinical, or financial systems.
