Maintenance Officer

Brig-O-Doon Aged Care Service – Acacia Ridge, QLD

Permanent Full Time – 76 hours a fortnight

Join our small, dedicated team and play an important role in keeping our aged care service safe, functional, well maintained and welcoming for our residents.

This is a hands-on and varied role covering building and general maintenance, preventative and reactive repairs, grounds maintenance, equipment checks and contractor coordination. You’ll use your practical skills and experience to ensure our facilities are maintained to a high standard while supporting resident safety, Work Health and Safety requirements and aged care compliance standards.

Previous maintenance experience within residential aged care is highly regarded, as an understanding of the unique requirements of an aged care environment will help you succeed in this role.

In this role, you will:

  • Complete preventative and reactive maintenance and general building repairs
  • Carry out minor repairs and general handyman duties across the service
  • Maintain gardens, grounds, paths and outdoor areas
  • Follow the preventative maintenance schedule and complete routine equipment checks
  • Coordinate and support external contractors as required
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for residents, employees and visitors
  • Work in accordance with relevant WHS, infection control and aged care compliance requirements
  • Identify maintenance or safety issues and respond to them in a timely manner

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Solid experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities or groundskeeping role
  • Previous maintenance experience with residential aged care – highly desirable
  • A good understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements
  • An understanding of the importance of infection control, compliance and resident safety within an aged care environment
  • Good practical problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing maintenance priorities
  • Confidence coordinating with contractors and other service providers
  • Current driver's licence
  • Valid Australian work rights – unfortunately, we are not offering sponsorship for this role
  • Availability to commence as soon as possible would be highly regarded
