At Churches of Christ, we believe everyone deserves a place to belong. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Community Development Officer to help strengthen communities, uplift tenants, and work alongside people with lived experience of housing insecurity.
About you and your new opportunity:
As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will nurture vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities within our Housing Services. You will work closely with tenants, partners, volunteers, and internal teams to design and deliver initiatives that promote connection, wellbeing, and empowerment.
You will:
Support and guide project team members, volunteers, business partners, and community stakeholders.
Design, coordinate, and evaluate community-based initiatives that promote tenant participation and wellbeing.
Contribute to tenant engagement frameworks and grant submissions.
Establish and support a peer-leadership program for people with lived experience of housing insecurity.
Build strong local partnerships to increase access to services and community connection.
Collect and share data, case studies, and success stories.
Provide advice, training, and support to internal staff on community engagement activities.

Essential experience/qualifications:
Degree qualification or equivalent experience in community development or human services
Minimum five years' experience in community development or a related field
MUST have a current driver’s license and willingness to work across various locations in Southeast Queensland
Possess (or the ability to acquire) a National Police Certificate and Working with Children (Blue Card)
Desirable skills and experience:
Experience in social housing or working with vulnerable communities.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and motivational interviewing
Experience supporting volunteers or peer leaders.
