Help Shape the Systems Behind Care

Have you ever thought:

  • "There has to be a better way to do this."
  • "Why are staff working around the system instead of the system helping them?"
  • "If someone listened to the people using these applications every day, we could improve this."

If that sounds like you, this could be your next career move.

We are looking for an Applications Team Leader to lead a team responsible for the systems that support care delivery and business operations across Churches of Christ.

This is not a traditional IT leadership role.

We are seeking someone who understands how services operate, enjoys improving processes, and can help ensure our applications genuinely support the people who rely on them every day.

About the role:

As Applications Team Leader, you will lead a team of Applications Specialists while remaining hands-on with the applications and systems that support our organisation.

You will act as the link between frontline teams, operational leaders, vendors, and technology teams, ensuring our systems are reliable, fit for purpose and continuously improving.

You will not spend your day managing from the sidelines. You will be actively involved in understanding business needs, supporting critical applications, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping deliver better outcomes for staff and clients.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading and supporting a team of Applications Specialists.
  • Acting as the voice of operational and clinical teams when improving systems and processes.
  • Managing service requests, incidents, and application support activities.
  • Working with vendors to resolve issues, improve service delivery and ensure agreed outcomes are met.
  • Supporting key business applications including clinical, operational, and corporate systems.
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify workflows and improve user experience.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across applications and business processes.
  • Supporting application upgrades, changes, and user adoption activities.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to understand what is working, what is not and where improvements can be made.
  • Building strong relationships across Residential Aged Care, Home Care, and corporate teams.

Who this role could suit:

  • A Care Manager, Clinical Manager or operational leader with strong systems experience.
  • A Quality, Practice or Continuous Improvement professional who enjoys improving how people work.
  • A Business Analyst who understands service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • An Applications Specialist ready to step into a leadership role.
  • A systems super-user who regularly supports colleagues and drives improvements.
  • Someone who has acted in leadership roles, mentored others or led projects and is ready for the next step.

What you will bring:

We are more interested in your ability to understand operations, people, and systems than a traditional IT background.

  • Experience working with business applications and systems.
  • Understanding of aged care, health, community services, or other service-based environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience managing incidents, service requests, or operational issues.
  • The ability to build relationships and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with software vendors and external partners.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and influence others.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

Possess or willingness to obtain:

  • Possess a current National Police Certificate – or the ability to acquire.
  • Possess Working with Children (Blue Card) – or the ability to acquire.
  • Possess Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) – or the ability to acquire.
