The Lakes Church in Cairns, Queensland, is inviting applications for an Associate Pastor to join our team. We’re seeking someone who loves Jesus, loves people, and brings their gifts with joy and diligence as we continue to love people and invite them into a growing relationship with Jesus.

About the Role

As an Associate Pastor, you will play a key part in the pastoral and leadership life of The Lakes Church. You will take leadership responsibility in at least one primary ministry area (below), with additional opportunities depending on gifting capacity such as preaching, service hosting, event management, graphic design, and communication.

Possible Ministry Focus Areas:

Connections & Hospitality

Lead teams that help people feel seen, welcomed, and connected into the life of the church. Oversee welcome, info desk, hospitality, and midweek follow‑up, ensuring meaningful next steps in community and discipleship.

Generations & Families

Provide leadership across children’s, youth, and family ministries. Support volunteer leaders, nurture intergenerational faith formation, and help create safe, welcoming environments for all ages.

Worship & Creative Arts

Lead our Worship & Creative Arts ministries with a heart for authentic worship. Develop musicians, singers, technicians, and creatives, building healthy teams and helping shape engaging Sunday gatherings.

About You

• You love Jesus and people, and you’re eager to serve with humility and enthusiasm.
• You bring leadership capacity and a desire to develop and empower others.
• You have (or can obtain):
• The right to work in Australia.
• A Queensland Working With Children Check (Blue Card).
• A current Police Check (or are willing to obtain).
• Be willing to be endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ in Queensland.
