Café and Events Coordinator

About the Role

Join a role where hospitality, connection and community truly matter. Churches of Christ is seeking a Café and Events Coordinator to oversee the daily operation of our on‑site One Table Café and coordinate engaging events across our campus at Little Mountain.

In this role, you will create welcoming spaces where residents, families and visitors feel connected and supported. Through quality café service and engaging events, you will contribute to wellbeing, social connection and a positive experience, working closely with staff, volunteers and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the café, including food preparation, inventory management, cash handling, and compliance with food safety and health standards
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver events that encourage community participation and generate revenue for the integrated campus
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and hospitality in both café and event settings, including managing feedback and resolving complaints
  • Lead, support and coordinate café staff, volunteers and students within the area of responsibility
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support event success and café visibility
  • Monitor café and event performance, including financial outcomes, engagement metrics and reporting insights
  • Promote café offerings and events through targeted communications, signage and digital channels
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, legislative requirements, safety standards and reporting obligations, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are a hands‑on hospitality professional who enjoys creating welcoming spaces and bringing people together. You are confident managing café operations, leading teams, and coordinating events in a community focused environment.

You will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in a café, restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Barista experience with a commitment to high‑quality service
  • Experience planning, coordinating or delivering events
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including cash control and reporting
  • Communication and relationship building skills
  • Confidence leading and supporting staff, volunteers and students
  • Strong organisational, problem solving and decision-making skills

Essential Requirements

  • Certified Barista qualification or equivalent experience
  • Food Safety and Quality Management certification
  • Current Australian driver’s licence
  • National Police Check (or ability to obtain)

Desirable

  • Degree qualification in Events Management, Marketing, Business Administration or similar.
