Permanent Full Time Chef

About the Role:

Churches of Christ Queensland are currently seeking a full time Chef at our Homesteads Aged Care in Nerang.  This role will see you working within our service overseeing food safety, supervising the cleaners, kitchen staff and managing stocks.

About You

Are you someone who is up for a new challenge and to be part of a dedicated aged care team, using your cooking expertise to create meal experiences that nourish not only the body but also provide emotional comfort and a sense of home for elderly residents?

Our ideal candidate has:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in commercial food preparation and cooking
  • Must hold a Certificate 4 in Commercial Cookery or other relevant trade qualification
  • Has a strong knowledge of safe food hygiene practices and kitchen safety
  • Currently holds, or willing to obtain a current Police Check
  • Hold valid Australian Work Rights - Unfortunately we are not currently able to sponsor

Desirable:

  • Two years' experience as a commercial cook
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Outlook and Internet Explorer
  • Experience with supervising and training junior kitchen staff and trainees
  • Confidence in communicating with supervisor and suppliers
