About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and passionate Cook to join our dedicated team at Palms Aged Care Service in Ingham, Queensland, with the ability to work at our Rockingham Aged Care Service in Cardwell as well. In this rewarding casual role, you will help create nutritious, high-quality meals that bring comfort and enjoyment to our residents, while supporting their individual dietary and nutritional needs.

Working within a collaborative kitchen team, you will contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences in a safe, welcoming, and person-centred environment.

Enjoy the opportunity to work across both our Cardwell and Palms services, where you will support residents while building meaningful connections with two welcoming and supportive teams.

Your Responsibilities

As our Cook, you will:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals with care, creativity, and attention to dietary requirements
  • Ensure all kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are maintained to high hygiene and infection-control standards
  • Maintain accurate kitchen records and stock documentation
  • Assist with stock ordering and liaise with suppliers and supervisors regarding kitchen supplies
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth daily operations
  • Contribute ideas for menus, themed meals, and special events
What You Will Bring

You are someone who genuinely enjoys working with older people and understands the important role good food plays in health, wellbeing, and quality of life. You are reliable, organised, and committed to safe food handling practices and teamwork.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial food preparation and food hygiene practices
  • Minimum one year experience working as a commercial Cook
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or relevant trade qualification
  • Strong understanding of food safety legislation, texture-modified diets, and special dietary requirements
  • Experience within the aged care sector (highly regarded)
  • Current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
  • Valid Australian working rights (unfortunately sponsorship is not available for this role)
