Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

Our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor is a key role in strengthening the connection between our people and our safety culture, to influence and support practical safety outcomes for the business and ultimately the safety and wellbeing of our customers.

This role will provide processes and assurance across our Churches of Christ sites around Australia and deliver health, safety, and wellbeing advice and support to our people.

About the role:

In this site focused, hands-on role you will:

  • Champion and health and safety activities including auditing, psychosocial hazard management, people handling training and incident investigation.
  • Be visible on our sites promoting and demonstrating safe behaviours and practices, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting leaders to embed best-practice health and safety.
  • Ensure our safety management system is fit for purpose and is being used consistently by staff and contractors.
  • Document and manage risk reviews, addressing key risks, issues and specific activities which may have an impact on people or assets.

About You:

You are an experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing professional, with the confidence to work across many and varied, regulated people-centred community services. You bring a practical mindset, build rapport with and influence leaders and people in all parts of the organisation and establish your credibility as a trusted HSW advisor. You will also have:

  • H&S experience in aged care, health, or similar multisite people centred environments.
  • The ability to frequently visit local and interstate sites and be the point of contact for safety.
  • The ability to coach leaders and operations teams on meeting their organisational and legislative obligations, proactively managing risk, and integrating site systems with the organisation’s HSW strategies.
  • Experience in leading critical incident investigations, auditing, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to deliver hands-on people handling training and mentoring as part of the organisations manual handling injury reduction framework.

Ideally you will have tertiary health and safety or related qualifications.
