Highlighting the importance of this role 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Hand/Cook to join our team on a Part-time basis. Located in the heart of the Redlands, Buckingham Gardens is a 50-bed Service nestled within the peaceful suburb of Alexandra Hills. 

You are a hands-on individual looking for diversity in a role who will be responsible for undertaking kitchen duties and assisting in the preparation of nutritious meals for our residents.  

 

To be considered for this role you must be available to work mornings, Thursday - Sunday 7am to 10am, weekly. The successful candidate will also step up into the Cooks position as required to cover Annual and Sick Leave.  

As the Kitchen Hand your responsibilities could include: 

  • Dishwashing and cleaning of the kitchen, equipment & dining areas; 
  • Preparation of salads, sandwiches and morning tea items 
  • Maintaining food hygiene and safety practices according to legislation; 
  • Assisting with the servicing of meals, including setting up and cleaning the dining room, trolleys and trays. 

As the Cook your responsibilities could include: 

  • Undertaking food handling, preparation and basic cooking duties; 
  • Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and equipment inline with standard cleaning and infection control processes; 
  • Basic record keeping such as, number of meals per day, missed meals, fridge and freezer temperatures; 
  • Liaising with the supervisor and suppliers in relation to ordering and stock control. 

  

What you can bring to the team 

You are an enthusiastic reliable worker who enjoys being a team player and can also work autonomously. You will be passionate about kitchen duties and committed to providing excellent customer service to our residents. Working in a fast-pace environment you will have compassion for the elderly and are passionate about maintaining an environment suitable to their needs. 

Ideally you will have: 

  • Certificate II in Kitchen Operations or similar is desirable but not essential; 
  • Experience working in the Aged Care industry is desirable; 
  • Experience working in commercial kitchens is essential; 
  • Current National Police Certificate or the ability to acquire.
