Project Manager - Payroll Assurance Project
- Kenmore head office, free parking onsite
- Fixed‑term contract through to June 2027 (project-funded role)
- $140k base + super + 5 weeks leave
This is a business‑critical role to ensure delivery continuity and support the capacity of the current Payroll Assurance team.
As a Project Manager for our payroll assurance / payroll remediation project you will utilise your experience in managing complex payroll remediation, wage compliance, IR projects, or Payroll system implementations or upgrades, from discovery through to remediation and implementation support.
This role will specifically support the existing Churches of Christ Payroll Assurance Team, assisting with the delivery of the remaining components of the Payroll Assurance Project. The Project Manager will partner closely with Payroll, People & Culture, Finance, IR, and external advisors to ensure compliant, timely, and auditable delivery outcomes, as well as providing additional delivery capacity, enabling the broader team to focus on parallel priorities and downstream activities.
This role requires a technical understanding of payroll remediation and wage compliance projects and will provide project leadership and oversee technical workstreams that will support our obligations, timelines and manage commercial outcomes for the business.
We are looking for a forward-thinking professional with:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders early to understand business drivers, define high-level requirements, and shape project scope.
- Business Case Development: build business cases by translating strategic goals into actionable project plans and delivery frameworks.
- Procurement & Vendor Selection: Lead procurement activities including market engagement, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiation to ensure the selection of partners that align with project and organisational needs.
- Solution Delivery Oversight: Manage projects through solution design, functional alignment, and testing phases—ensuring that business needs are met with practical, scalable solutions.
- Strategic Alignment: Maintain alignment between business objectives, technical solutions, and delivery outcomes, ensuring value is realised at every stage.
Success in this role looks like:
- Key payroll rectification and remediation milestones delivered on plan
- Clear, auditable governance and reporting across all workstreams
- Strong collaboration with the Payroll Assurance team to lift overall delivery capacity
- Proactive risk, dependency and stakeholder management in a regulated environment
What You will bring:
- Experience or qualifications in project management (PMP, PMBOK, Prince 2, Agile).
- Significant experience delivering payroll rectification / remediation projects, industrial relations (IR) projects, or payroll system implementations, ideally within complex or regulated environments.
- A proven record managing and delivering projects, ideally in payroll assurance/remediation.
- Ideally HRIS implementation or similar programs of work.
- The ability to lead stakeholders through a transformation journey with the change management experience to ensure success.
- Influence and relationship-building skills to be a trusted project partner and able to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
- A pragmatic analytical mindset, resilient, clear under pressure, and focused on outcomes and value.
